Uriel Echavarría has lived in Zacatecas and Veracruz, Mexico. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at the Ecology Institute in Xalapa, Veracruz, where his research focuses on preserving heirloom agrobiodiversity and strengthening local food webs through collaborations with indigenous communities. Uriel holds a degree in Agroecology Engineering from the Autonomous University of Chapingo in Texcoco, Mexico, as well as a Master’s in Science from the Ecology Institute.
He is deeply inspired by native and ancestral knowledge and is passionate about agri-food cultures and sustainability. Uriel is committed to finding alternative, sustainable solutions that help diversify and strengthen family agriculture. In his free time, he enjoys fieldwork, walking, cooking, and spending time by the fire.
